TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROJECT
CHEMAWA RD IMPROVEMENTS NORTH - RIVER RD TO KEIZER RAPIDS PARK
The City of Keizer has been awarded a partnership grant for transportation enhancement which will consist of Federal and State Grant dollars and Local tax dollars. The schedule is to design and engineer by 2011 with construction beginning in 2012 and completed by September 2012.
The City of Keizer is addressing the needs of the citizens of the community, region and state to provide a safe and effective method for access to the newly opened Keizer Rapids Park along with addressing serious safety concerns for the citizens, transit service, freight and pedestrian traffic who share this roadway with the high school access. The project will consist of safety enhancements including a pedestrian corridor of 6' seperated sidewalks and 5' bike lanes. Along the seperated sidewalks will be a series of "water garden" stormwater infiltration areas on both sides of Chemawa Rd from River Rd to the Keizer Rapids Park. A traffic signal will also be added at Delight St and Chemawa Rd at the McNary High School entrance and the remainder of Chemawa Rd will be (2) 11'6" travel lanes with turn pockets.
