Urban Tree Inventory

The City of Keizer is launching a local urban tree inventory with assistance from the Oregon Department of Forestry. We are seeking volunteers to help collect data on tree location, species, quantity, and condition throughout Keizer.

The information gathered during the Tree Inventory will help the City:person in high-vis vest measuring the diameter of tree

  • Identify maintenance needs, overall health and street tree priorities.
  • Determine the environmental and economic benefits of our urban forest.
  • Identify the diversity of our urban street trees.
  • Identify potential planting locations.
  • Inform long-term management goals and decisions.

We are looking for volunteers! Volunteers will be using a city-provided tablet to record street tree location, species and condition. Volunteers will be trained and provided all of the necessary equipment. You do not need to be a tree expert to participate.

How to volunteer:

  • Keizer Environmental recommends at least 1 of 2 Tree Inventory Volunteers partaking in collections be 18 years or older. 
  • Must be available to complete at least two tree surveys (1-2 hours each) between May and June
  • Attend one volunteer training prior to your first tree survey
